OPERATION CHRISTMAS CHILD - Next week is collection week for Operation Christmas Child. This is an amazing program the students have been learning about this week. Students can pack a shoebox full of toys and other needed items to be delivered to children around the world. Students should have brought home a pamphlet on this earlier this week. In CFP we are studying Moses, Pharaoh and the plagues. We are looking at the words respect and justice this week and next. Students are also creating newspaper style Google Docs on some of the plagues. Look for these to be available next week.
Next week’s memory is the 7th commandment and 2 verses of “Wake, Awake”
Students are writing Presidential news stories. They will have weekly assignments due. Next Thursday they need to have JUST THEIR LEAD PARAGRAPH done. We will edit those in class. They have a Google Doc they are to be doing these in.
We will be ready for test 7 for Mr. Akerson paced next week. Notes 31-35 will be checked. That test will most likely be Wednesday.
Self pace will continue moving through lessons. They will be on track for ONE test one Monday, November 21st most likely.
We had some fun learning fractions with Legos this week. We will be using this wonderful learning tool more as the year goes on. More and more lessons will deal with fractions and decimals as the year goes on.
We will also be ready for our next pirate challenge about measuring angles using a protractor. Hmmm, how will my pirates handle this one???? Looking forward to it!
7th SOCIAL STUDIES
VERY proud of all the 7th graders for their work on the election. Congrats to all three teams and Ben, Adam and Erin in particular for running great campaigns. Ben/Sarah and Team Katoll won the election. We made some great connections between our election and the actual election process. (Which was my main goal) They also learned a little more about the 3 religions we were studying in class. (Christianity, Islam and Judaism) Thanks 7th graders!!!
TEST NEXT WEEK - the Islam test is next week Tuesday (Adler) or Wednesday (Spangler) Students have a study guide. It is an assignment. There is also an extra credit opportunity available on the study guide.
After Islam we will be studying Africa.
Blessings on your weekend.
