This past week in math we spent a lot of time preparing for the achievement tests. Due to this fact, the assignments were a little different. All the students had to do was take notes over the next lesson and complete the practice problems for that lesson in their notes. If the students did this they received a 5/5 in the grade book. If they did not, they still completed it and received a 4. Then on Friday we spent the math class going over all the concepts they took notes over during the week to reinforce the learning of those concepts.
Next week we will continue with regular lessons. I will plan the lessons with the hope that the students do not have much, if any homework.
This week we spent the entire week on prayer. We looked in depth at some of the petitions of the Lord's prayer. Next week we will apply some of these concepts to our prep for achievement tests.
MEMORY - don't forget to email me when memory is finished. Next week students only need to memorize the song verses and recite those at home. We will work with Luther's evening prayer in class.
7th Social Studies
We are in the middle of our Renaissance unit. Students this week look at and created artwork in three different styles - Classical, Renaissance and Medieval. I was very proud of their efforts and art work. We also created a scene from the Sistine Chapel. Some of those are hanging on our ceiling right now.
Next week looked at some of the ruling families during Renaissance time. The students got to participate (or will on Monday) in CSI Florence. They had to solve a murder mystery.
Next week we'll look at some of the leading figures during the Renaissance and some of their accomplishments. We'll then move on to trying a Shakespeare Breakout Box. That will be a competition between the two seventh grades. (Thanks to Mr. Spangler for working together on this!)
Blessings on your weekends.
