Discipleship - students this week worked with finding BIble verses and other topics in the Bible using www.biblegateway.com We also looked at the different audiences, purposes, and sources of information for the 4 Gospels. We also looked at how God's word was preserved through King Josiah. (Why was Mr. Akerson throwing tables again?)
This week we will look at some of the Old Testament prophecies and their New Testament fulfillments. We will also be going on a Bible scavenger hunt.
We also watched a video about CCLS-U. You can view that video here. Both classes will also be working toward sponsoring a child by raising $25 a month. More info coming.

Math - this week we started with our split math class. Both groups worked well during the first week. The self-paced group moved through 8 lessons this week. Students in the self-paced class will have a test over lessons 11-20 on Friday.
Mr. Akerson paced group will have their next test on Tuesday. It will cover lessons 11 - 15. We will work through the practice test on Monday.
This week we will also be up for our 2nd Pirate Challenge. We will working with fractions and pirate treasure chests on Wednesday and Thursday. Check our first pirate challenge video here.
Social Studies - This past week students played a trading simulation game. Students were broken into teams of Europe, Middle East and Far East. The students had to make trade goods and try to acquire wealth, trade goods and ideas. The Middle East won in both classes. Hmmm, wonder why?
Students have their Middle East map test coming this week. (Adler 9/29; Spangler 9/30)
We continue our study of Islam this week with a look at the 5 pillars of Islam. Students will be using a new app called Adobe Voice to communicate their understanding of Islam.
