In discipleship this past week we started our Martin Luther unit. The students and I had a great discussion about the times that Martin Luther grew up in. I was very impressed with the fifth-graders questions and their wondering about the church's teachings at that time. Next week we will continue our study of Martin Luther and the Reformation by looking at his personal life.
In CFP this week we looked at David and Absalom. This concluded a five week study of stories about David.
The students have a reflection paragraph do on Tuesday. This should be turned in on Google classroom. All of the directions can be found in Google Classroom.
Next week we will be studying Solomon and his building of the temple.

In math this week students took test 4. Next week we’ll continue with regular lessons.
We also continue to work on our math facts. This is something that can be worked on at home. The students have logins to a website called Xtramath. Sometimes I assign it during a day, but every night students could put five minutes in working on their math facts using this website. This would greatly help them as they move forward in math.
With the end of first-quarter coming, I am going to start having a discussion with the students about splitting our math class into two classes. Please watch for an informational letter to be coming home in the very near future.
7th GRADE SOCIAL STUDIES

Mr. Adler‘s class has their test on Tuesday, with Mr. Spangler‘s class having their test on Wednesday.
We continued our study of Islam this week. Students learned about and worked with the origins of Islam as well as some of their core believes, the five pillars of Islam.
Students took a quiz over Chapter 8 this week and had some fun using a new app called chapter kid. Look for these fun little projects on their seesaw accounts. Students will also be reflecting on how they can improve in the future using Seesaw.
