(REPEAT) GOOGLE CLASSROOM - ALL MY STUDENTS - I assign a lot of assignments through Google Classroom. Google has recently added a feature where parents can receive daily or weekly updates on assignments. If you want to receive those updates, please reply to the email and let me know, I have to invite you through Google Classroom.
**Many of you have responded to this already, but I wanted to repeat it just in case. One glitch we did find is that you need to have a Google account to receive the updates. You don't need to get a new email address, you only need to sign up for a new account and you can chose to use your current email address. Here is a link to do that - CREATE AN ACCOUNT
This week we looked at Who is God? in our One in Christ book. Students also started working independently on a Bible study using the S.O.A.P method. (Ask them if they know what that is.) Next week we’ll go through that Bible study together.
We also started our Character Formation Project (CFP) time together. We will doing this weekly and I am very excited about walking through this with them. Each week we’ll examine a character trait in relation to a Bible study and talk about the student’s identity in Christ, their purpose and how they perform.
I want to encourage families at home to talk about this as well. Each week I’ll provide some of the questions we talked about and encourage the students to discuss those with their family. If they don’t, then families are encouraged to bring them up. For this week simply ask them who they are and what their purpose is. These two questions will be asked and answers recited each time we meet. Students were encouraged to ask their families about a time when it was hard to practice integrity.
Next week we will talk about the fall of man and the trait respect.
DON’T FORGET TO EMAIL ME WHEN YOUR CHILD’S MEMORY IS COMPLETE.
Next week’s memory is:
For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, - Romans 3:23
Be perfect, therefore, as your heavenly Father is perfect. - Matthew 5:48
Salvation unto Us Has Come Vs. 1 and 2. - This is a link to a karaoke version of it with the lyrics. Sometimes it might be helpful in learning the song.
We worked through lesson 7 this week with some extra work on place value conversions. Next week we will have our first math test on Friday. After that, math tests will come every FIVE lessons, so it will seem like they come almost every week.
XTRAMATH - next week starts xtramath officially for a grade. Students need to log on once a day, Monday - Friday, and do xtramath until they get the screen that says, “You are Done!” I have told the students, but I want everyone to know, the only time they practice that counts toward the mastery of the skilll they are on, is the first time they do it for the day. They still need to race the teacher, and are welcome to practice beyond the “you are done” screen, but the only one that will count toward mastery is the first time they do it each day.
7th Grade Social Studies
This week the students worked with Rome and its legacy. They had (or will have Monday) a going away party for Rome and everyone brought presents. The presents were the legacies that Romans left behind and how they could be seen in our lives today.
This coming week students have a map test - (Adler - Tuesday, 8/30; Spangler Wednesday 8/31) Students should be studying a little each day. Do not try to cram it all in the night before the test. We talked about a few ways to study and the students should be working on finding what study method works best for them. The map material will get harder as the year goes on, so now is the time to find out how they learn and what helps them.
This coming week students will also start work on Feudalism. We will have a in-class simulation later in the week.
Blessings on your Sunday!
